Kitchen Shift Leader

Location: Okehampton
Salary: £16.25 per hour (Midweek) | £17.05 per hour (Weekends) | Higher rates upon successful completion of training
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time (Approx. 37.5–45 hours per week, including shifts and weekends)

Role

Join a busy resort hotel catering for more than 300 guests each day in a fast-paced buffet environment. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced chef ready to step into a leadership position with long-term career prospects.

You’ll lead kitchen operations during your shift, support a small team, and help deliver consistently high-quality food and service.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the kitchen team during your shift.

  • Prepare and serve high-quality food in a busy buffet operation.

  • Monitor food quality, presentation and portion control.

  • Ensure food safety, hygiene and health & safety standards are maintained.

  • Organise workflow to ensure efficient service across all kitchen sections.

  • Support and develop team members to maintain a positive working environment.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a chef in a busy kitchen.

  • Experience in buffet or high-volume catering is preferred.

  • Confident leading and motivating a small team.

  • Good communication and organisational skills.

  • Flexible to work shifts, including weekends.

  • Reliable with a positive, hands-on approach.

Rewards

  • £16.25 per hour (midweek) and £17.05 per hour (weekends).
