Sous Chef – Independent Pub in Alcester
Location: Alcester, Warwickshire
Salary: £28,000 – £32,000 (DOE)
Hours: 37–40 hours per week
Contract: Permanent

Are you a passionate and creative chef ready for a new challenge? We’re looking for a Sous Chef to join our vibrant, quality-focused kitchen team in Alcester. Work with fresh, seasonal ingredients to create bold dishes inspired by American BBQ, Korean flavours, and classic pub favourites.

About Us

We’re a family-run, independent free house at the heart of Alcester. Known for our evolving menus and commitment to local, high-quality produce, we’ve built a loyal customer base. Our kitchen is led by a Michelin-trained Head Chef, and we’re proud to offer a welcoming, supportive atmosphere with real room for creativity and progression.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary: £28,000 – £32,000, depending on experience

  • 37–40 hours per week with a regular rota

  • Sensible hours – usually finished by 9:30 PM

  • Split and straight shifts available

  • 28 days holiday

  • At least one weekend day off when possible

  • Mentorship from a Michelin-trained Head Chef

What You’ll Do

  • Support the Head Chef with day-to-day kitchen operations and menu development

  • Help create and serve fresh, high-quality dishes

  • Collaborate on new, seasonal menu ideas

  • Keep the kitchen clean, safe, and well-organised

  • Maintain consistent standards during service

  • Mentor and guide junior team members

What We’re Looking For

  • 3–5 years’ experience in a fresh food kitchen

  • Background in gastropubs or independent, food-led venues

  • Passion for creative cooking, especially BBQ or Korean-style cuisine

  • Calm, reliable, and hands-on team player

  • A desire to contribute and grow with the team
